DECISIVE MOMENTS private view

Etc Guides were having an arty evening on Friday. We started at the launch of the snapshot museum's fine Decisive Moments installation, at Morecambe's Winter Gardens. And what a setting, in the midst of a marvelous victorian theatre stands the brilliant white temporary gallery showcasing local residents summertime snaps from yesteryear alongside audio from the photographers. It's night's like tonight that the Lancaster Morecambe Etc guide is mean't to be all about. Hopefully, as this blog develops, we'll be able to promote and cover/review great events such as this one.

Morecambe Football Club

Get down to Christie Park for a chance to see League football action at its finest. Since manager Sammy McIlroy took the club to League Two promotion glory in 2007, Morecambe FC has cemented a firm hold in league, challenging teams for further success, and only narrowly missing out on the play offs last season. With a new ground due to open in 2010, now is a great time to follow The Shrimps, as they are known locally. In 2008, Morecambe FC was voted the most ‘liked’ Club in England, and their pies the best in the league!

Artisan

Artisan

Philip Modica opened this seafront daytime cafĂ© on Valentine’s Day 2004 - and has since received critical acclaim in many national newspapers. Paintings by local artists adorn the walls, while freshly baked sponge cakes sit on doilies, waiting to be snapped up. Philip insists on cooking all the food freshly to order, so it can be busy at peak periods. But it’s well worth it! Be sure to check out the ‘specials’ board, too. At the back, check out the deli, stocking a range of local and Mediterranean produce, as well as specially blended Artisan teas and coffees.
